Soy good

Diets high in soya protein have been linked not only to a reduction in menopausal symptoms, but also to a reduced risk of heart disease.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the US has ruled that the link is sufficiently proven to allow a health claim to be made on packaging.

Foods must contain at least 6.25 grams of Soya Protein and must also be low in cholesterol and saturated fat to be considered to be a good way of reducing cholesterol in the body.  In the UK, 34 % of women and 37% of men between the ages of 35 – 64 have been found to have excess levels of cholesterol.
