Counselling FAQ’s

Q. How can counselling help me?

A. Counselling helps you take time out from your situation and see it from a fresh perspective. It can also give you a chance to explore complex or difficult issues in a safe and confidential environment.

Q. Is this the right place to come with my problem?

A. If you are concerned about your health and well-being, want to talk about a hysterectomy or problem you have, or if you want to talk about the impact that illness and surgery has had on different areas of your life, then I am the right person to talk to.

Q. Do I have to pay for Counselling services?

A. You will be expected to pay for all counselling session. The cost of counselling is £75 per telephone session.

Q. Do I have to be referred to you?

A. No. Many organisations and GPs do refer women to me, but you can also come directly if you would like to talk about anything to do with a your own health, well-being or a hysterectomy.

Q. Do you have special training?

A. All counsellors have a recognised qualification in counselling and fully qualified counsellors will have significant experience. I also have direct experience of women’s health issues and have had a hysterectomy.

Q. Do you only provide services to women?

A. No. Anyone can request counselling.

Q. Is the counselling confidential?

A. All counselling is in complete confidence. Information about you is only held on a ‘need to know’ basis and I will never give your name or any information about you to anyone else, unless someone’s personal safety is at risk.

Q. What happens at a counselling session?

A. Your first session will be exploratory and will ask some specific questions about you and your problem to determine if counselling might be helpful to you. Some people find that this session is all they need to clear their thinking and help them decide what to do and so no further counselling is necessary. However, if you do decide that counselling is right for you, we can then discuss making a further appointment. If I don’t think I’m right for you then I may refer you to another organisation.

Q. How do I book a counselling session?

A. Please make a booking through our online shop here: If you need to cancel a booking, you must do this at least 48 hours before your appointment otherwise we may not be able to refund your payment.

Q. What happens if I have a complaint?

A. I always welcomes feedback and if you have a complaint please just get in touch so I can resolve it.
