Creativity

This page shows the 10 most recent posts in the creativity section of my blog. Originally, this was all about writing, because that’s what I do, but I’ve come to recognise that we are far more than any ‘title’ or ‘skill’ or activity we label ourselves as, we are all, always creative beings. Therefore, when I changed what wanted to talk about on this site, it made sense to make this area about that creative ‘other’ we are that is expressed in so many different ways.

I have been writing since I was a child, mostly about women’s health and business, with the odd, not particularly successful foray into fiction. I also know how hard it can be to get your work in front an interested audience, which is why I created the Thursday Throng author interviews, to put other indie authors in front of a brand new set of people. I stopped doing written interviews at during the lockdown of 2020 and instead shifted to doing face to face interviews on line, mostly because I’m nosey and like to get to know people personally. These too have morphed from being interviews with writers to interviews about ‘the art of being..’, feel free to add your own word at the end there!

Finally, the Hysteria writing competition began life in 2012 to raise funds for The Hysterectomy Association. After 22 years, the association website closed and I moved all the content to this site so it wasn’t lost forever. Initially, I planned to close Hysteria as well but realised that I had to give it at least a chance of new life, so brought it over too and will see how it goes in its new home in 2020.

Hysteria 7 book cover competition

It’s taken a few months to get to this point, but finally Hysteria 7 has been published and is ready to be unleashed on the world. As is usual at this point in the competition I’m releasing the book cover…

Finding your passion

In my experience, there are two types of passion. There is the passion that stems from ‘I must have this’ and the second begins with ‘I really don’t want that’. Many people will say that one (the former) is better…

The what and the who of Linda

A psychic once told me that it was almost as if I had appeared fully formed on earth at the age of 10 – rather like Mr Bean – with no history or family to speak of. With a statement…

The darker side of chocolate – Friday fiction

“Would you like some of my chocolate grandma?” I looked at Ben and smiled. The last time I’d had a bar of chocolate must have been before the war started, before the rationing came and there was no time, or…
