Writing retreats – terms and conditions

Please note: If you make a booking to attend a writing retreat you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:

What is included in the cost?

Each retreat includes the following:

  • Four tutored sessions over the course of the weekend
  • Accommodation as per your booking
  • All meals including breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Plenty of tea, coffee and soft drinks
  • Mid morning coffee and biscuits
  • Afternoon tea and cake

If you wish to drink alcohol with dinner please bring it with you.


Bookings are only confirmed upon receipt of the appropriate deposit. A deposit is 25% of the full retreat cost. You may pay with credit or debit card through PayPal when you make your booking or by sterling cheque. Please note that cheques drawn in a currency other than sterling are not acceptable.

A booking made by cheque will be deemed a reservation. Reservations are held for a period of 5 days to allow time for deposits to be received. If the deposit is not received in this time, the place will be made available to others and your reservation will be cancelled.

The full balance of payment is due 6 weeks before the retreat starts and must be paid promptly at this time. If the balance is not received by this time, we reserve the right to consider the booking cancelled and will make the place available to others. In this situation, the deposit will not be refundable.


Occasionally circumstances arise which may necessitate a change to, or cancellation of a retreat. In these circumstances you will be offered either a refund or the opportunity to switch to a different date. Should you choose to accept a refund we will repay your deposit and any other balance you have paid. However, we are not responsible for any other costs incurred by yourself as a result of the cancellation and we advise that you take out travel insurance to cover you against any such loss.

If you cancel your booking six weeks or longer before the start date, we will refund your money in full less our administration costs of £45.00.

If you cancel your booking with less than six weeks  to go before the start of the retreat we will not be able to refund your money. We strongly advise you to take out travel insurance to cover you against any such loss.


All participants must be aged 18 years or over.

If you have a disability please notify us at the time of booking so that we can accommodate you appropriately if necessary.

Please advise us of any food allergies at the time of booking so that meals can be planned accordingly.

We reserve the right to ask any participant to leave the retreat if we consider their behaviour unacceptable, or detrimental to the health or well-being of others on the retreat. In this circumstance, you will not be entitled to a refund.

We reserve the right to make changes to the retreat programme should this be necessary.
