Researchers in Italy have suggested that women with a high intake of red meat increased their risk of endometriosis by over 80%, whereas women eating a lot of fruit and vegetables lowered their risk by 40%.

Diet appears to have some effect on endometriosis apparently due to the blood levels of oestrogen produced. High saturated fats increase levels of blood oestrogen whilst dark green leafy vegetables, nuts and legumes are naturally high in phyto-oestrogens which reduce the amount of oestrogen in the blood.
