Hyalofemme Vaginal Dryness Moisturiser Gel is a hormone free vaginal moisturiser which provides rapid and effective relief from the symptoms of itching, burning, inflammation and odour.
It’s pleasant to use and avoids the clumping and messy feeling seen with some other products. The good news is that from the 1st of July it became available for prescription by the NHS. In clinical trials Hyalofemme was shown to reduce the burning and inflammation associated with vaginal dryness and it has also been shown to be effective for women currently taking HRT and who are suffering the side effects of a number of cancer treatments. It is manufactured from a form of hyalyronic acid which is a naturally occurring molecule in the human body responsible for maintaining high levels of hydration within the tissues whilst at the same time playing a fundamental role in the tissue repair process.
According to Heather Currie (founder of Menopause Matters) “there is a patient group for whom hormone therapy is not advised or preferred and the availability of Hyalofemme on prescription serves to increase patient choice in treating vaginal dryness”.
Studies have been undertaken by Fidia Farmaceutici S.p.A., the developer and manufacturer of Hyalofemme®. In a representative group of 80 women suffering from vaginal dryness, it was found that the application of Hyalofemme® once every three days resulted in significant reduction of the bothersome symptoms of burning, itching and inflammation.
Hyalofemme® did not alter the natural acid-alkaline balance in the vagina. The majority of users found Hyalofemme® to give excellent persistent hydration and an enhanced feeling of wellbeing.
At the start of the study, only 7.5% of people on the trial were experiencing no burning and by the end, 54% of them reported that the burning had gone completely. Around 39% of patients had no itching at the start; 89% were itch-free at the end. Dyspareunia was “moderate or considerable” in 44% at entry; that reduced to zero after the 30-day period. And 100% reported complete absence of unpleasant odour.
