Review of treatment for heavy bleeding

Heavy bleeding is one of the main reasons for women to undergo hysterectomy. The Drug and Therapies bulletin have compared hysterectomy against endometrial destruction (by a variety of means) in the treatment of heavy bleeding.

They found that despite the fact that additional surgery was required in more than 38% of cases, the use of endometrial destruction had a very similar outcome in terms of patient satisfaction as hysterectomy.
