It is known that older women often have problems sleeping and this is usually blamed on the menopause.
But researchers are now finding that nearly half of American women aged 55-65 have sleep problems which are due more to stress and other illnesses, than the hormonal changes associated with the menopause.
One of the key problem areas is obstructive sleep apnoea (a breathing disorder), restless legs syndrome, diabetes and arthrities. Juggling work and home can increase stress levels, which in turn often leads to sleep problems.
