What is one thing that no-one would usually know about you?

According to my kids, I am ‘officially’ the worst tooth fairy ever. They grew up believing our tooth fairy suffered from frequent bouts of flu that sometimes prevented her visiting for several nights in a row. Oops! Sorry kids.

What is the single biggest challenge you faced when writing your book?

I am writing my first novel now. A young girl is growing up in a magical world, having just lost her Grandfather. He meant everything to her so the battles she faces against good and evil, are nothing when compared to learning to live with her loss. I’m enjoying seeing her succeed though. My biggest challenge, so far, is simply finding the time for uninterrupted thought.

Are you jealous of other writers?

I am insanely jealous of other writers. The ideas, the commitment, the time they find – all amazing. I am told it gets easier with practice, but still, they are incredible.

What was the most important thing you learned at school?

My husband died a few years ago, and I’ve had to raise my kids on my own, so the most important thing I learned at school was how to stand on my own two feet. That said, it’s been fun. Who’d want a simple life anyway?

Tea, Coffee, Water, Juice, Wine or Beer … which do you prefer when writing?

Tea. It helps my mind drift off into that timeless fuzzy place where all my best ideas come from. A bit like visiting Jurassic Park, you never know what will be loose that day.

If you could commit the perfect murder where would you hide the body?

The perfect murder would be the ultimate deceit. As for hiding the body? Amongst the bones of another dead body seems quite a good idea. A freshly dug grave could be shared without leaving too much evidence. Come on, budge over!
