An interview with Emma Norry, Short Story finalist in Hysteria 2015

This week we’re meeting Emma Norry, one of the 10 short listed finalists in the Short Story category of the Hysteria 2015 writing competition.

Nothing – I’ll tell anyone anything! (Ha!)

Who would you like to play you in a film of your life?

A woman who laughs like Sid James!

Do you have any hints or tips for aspiring writers?

Don’t give up. Write little and often. Read lots. Find the nugget of emotional truth is what you want to say. Learn to enjoy ‘killing your darlings’. Be in it for the long haul. We are all learning, all the time.

What has been the best experience you have ever had in your life?

Going on a week long Arvon course is the best writing related one

Where do you find your inspiration?

Everywhere. People. Watching listening and talking to them. Everyone has a story

Do you have any favourite resources you would like to share with our readers? a wonderful critiquing website for writers

Tea, Coffee, Water, Juice, Wine or Beer … which do you prefer when writing?

Still mineral water, ice cold

Are there any habits you wish you didn’t have?
