Hysteria 2012 Short Story and Poetry Competition Winners Announced

Well, the stories and poems have all been read, analysed and scored by our band of intrepid readers and we now have the ten short-listed short story winners and the ten poetry winners to announce from Hysteria 2012.

Short Story Competition – Short List

The short list for the short story competition winners, in no particular order, are:

  • Alison Wassell
  • Jayne Thickett
  • Hayley Staniforth-Room
  • Tracy Fells
  • Penelope Laurence
  • Olga Wojtas
  • Moya Poole
  • Jane Bean
  • Margaret Clark
  • Gaynor Jones

The short listed stories are now with our two final judges and the overall winner will be announced very shortly.

Poetry Winners

As you know, we are not having an overall winner in the poetry competition – this is because we didn’t get enough entries, all the candidates were contacted to find out if they still wished to participate and those that did have now been read, analysed and marked and the top ten poems were written by:

  • Lois Elaine Heckman
  • Christine Djabarouti
  • Abigail Wyatt
  • Jo Laidlaw
  • Anne Wilson
  • Margaret MacKenzie
  • Joy Blake
  • Corrinna Toop
  • Hazel Gee
  • Eleanor Smith

All of our top ten short story and poetry winners will now be published in our very first competition anthology which will be avaiable to purchase very soon.

Congratulations to everyone that has made the short lists and a big thank you to everyone that took the time to enter.

  1. Dear Linda, I am very excited to be a part of the winning short story list! Thank you. There is, however, a typo on my name. It is Penelope Laurence with a “u” not Lawrence as you have it listed here. I also wrote an email to you about this, but am not sure if email or this message board is the best way to get you, so I’m doing both. Thank you in advance for rectifying this small misspelling.
    Many thanks, Penelope Laurence

  2. Dear Linda, I am so delighted to be on the winning poetry list! Even though there will be no prize, being in the anthology will be prize enough.
However, there is a problem with my name. It is Lois Elaine Heckman and not Lois Claire Heckman. I also wrote you an email about this, but am not sure whether you received it or not, since I have had problems with my server lately. Thank you so much for taking care of this error, because the credit in the anthology (and on this website) is very important to me. Many congratulations to all the other poetry winners and the short listed story authors, too! Most sincerely, Lois Elaine Heckman
