ginna wilkersonWhat is one thing that no-one would usually know about you?

Very few people know that I once had a job riding elephants in an elephant show – first job after college – at Busch Gardens, Tampa.

What did the best review you ever had say about you and your work?

The images are powerful from the passion and beauty of the body to nature imagery, perhaps influenced by her study of Medieval Literature, also subtly reflecting the violence of the lost values of the Holy Spirit way/cultural occlusion in N.A. and how this has manifested spaces of loss and brokenness in love. From Beneath the Landscape – “My torso, fetus-curled, perches aloft” and Carried in the Body – “Slow pain/ like a stalker watching/ from the fire-escape/ in a black and white/ film noir and from Weavers – “Hands that warm death/ from the stone,/ warm her own bones,/ cradling herself in the weaving.”

How did you choose a title for your book?

The title is the same as the title of the first poem in the book, which I chose as the title of the collection because my editor said this was the poem that attracted his attention and convinced him to publish my book.

How do you remain sane while working?

My cats, Rosemary and Amanda, sit in the office with me and stare at my computer screen until I get it right.

What is your favourite TV moment of all time?

The final episode of The Mary Tyler Moore Show
