What is one thing that no-one would usually know about you?

I have a bronze medal for ballroom dancing…

Where do you find your inspiration?

I write a lot about my family, in fact both my poems in Hysteria 3 were about my mother. I am writing a novel inspired by family history research and have found some interesting stories involving my forebears. I am very keen to explore how we reinterpret the past through fiction.

What was the most important thing you learned at school?

I learned Latin at school which has been tremendously important when trying to do the Guardian Crossword and is very helpful in working out what difficult words mean.

What is the book that you wished you had written?

The Catcher in the Rye by J D Salinger is the first adult literary fiction I ever read age 12 or 13. It seems to be a book people either love or hate, and I am definitely in the love camp. I read it again recently and was in tears with Holden Caulfield on the train into New York. I love the tone of the book, the way Holden is trying to be so cool, and failing miserably, his ultimate humanity.

If you could commit the perfect murder where would you hide the body?

I really like the concept of ‘hiding in plain sight’ so that you don’t notice something or somebody is there because it’s where it should be anyway. So a mortuary might be a good place to hide the body…

If you have any other public social accounts or Facebook pages you’re happy to give out please let me know as the aim of this exercise is to give you some additional writing exposure too.
