Win £150 and Get Published With Hysteria 2013

In 2012 several hundred women entered the first Hysteria Short Story and Writing Competition. The anthology, Hysteria 1, produced from the winning short stories and poetry is now available to buy through Amazon UK and Amazon US and the Hysterectomy Association. Hysteria 2013 is now open to entries and once again winners will be included in an anthology of short stories to be published at the end of the year.

Hysteria 1The competition is only open to women, of any nationality and writing in English, for short stories of up to 2,000 words on almost any theme related to women.

Ten winners will be published in Hysteria 2, which will be sold to help raise funds for the Hysterectomy Association through our normal on-line outlets. Three overall winners will each win £150, £50 and £25 respectively. The competition will closes at 11.59pm on 31st August 2013. Entry to the competition costs £3 per entry.

Entries are to be made through the Hysterectomy Association Online Store. And you can read the full rules and guidelines for entry on the main Hysterectomy Association website.

You can find out more about last year’s overall winner, Jayne Thickett in her Thursday Throng interview on Woman on the Edge of Reality. You can also read her story, Banana Loaf: A recipe for solace on the Hysterectomy Association website too.

What some of last years winners have said:

This is a great competition and in support of a good cause. So if you are writing short stories then do have a go and enter this year’s competition. I am really looking forward to the 2012 anthology and delighted that my story about a medieval midwife will be included. Can’t wait to read the other stories.” Tracy Fells

This is a reasonably priced competition with a wide theme for a great cause. I thoroughly enjoyed crafting my entry for Hysteria 2012 and was thrilled to be short-listed – can’t wait to read the anthology! Give it a go!” Margaret Clark

I really enjoyed writing for this competition and couldn’t believe my luck when my story was chosen as part of the anthology, especially after reading the winning entry! This was an exceptional piece, written in a unique style, and I’m looking forward to reading the other winning entries. I’ll definately be entering future competitions.” Moya Poole

I am very happy that my contribution was selected to appear in the 2012 Hysteria 1 anthology and thoroughly enjoyed reading everyone else’s. The collected works encapsulate many of life’s disappointments, losses and challenges for women but are ultimately a well-selected, thought-provoking and entertaining read; one which I shall recommend at every opportunity. Roll on the 2013 comp. so we can do it all over again!” Anne Wilson

  1. Hi Linda,
I was wonderfully lucky and won a place in Hysteria 1 (family and friends are loving the book by the way!) and I was just wondering if this automatically makes me a reader for your next Hysteria comp?? xx
