According to the BBC self publishing is a wonderful phenomenon. Now we all know this already but it’s great that Aunty has finally caught up. “Total revenues of £3.34 billion were the highest ever recorded. Digital sales (ebooks and audiobooks) were up 66% to £411 million, while sales of physical books fell less than expected – by 1% to £2.9 billion.”
This week I’d like to introduce you all to Steven Harz who anthology of stories and poetry, Stories You Can’t Dance To, is featured in the review. When I visited his website I found the following quotes at the top of his About Me page: “If you want a happy ending, that depends, of course, on where you stop your story” – Orson Welles “Or where you begin it” – Steven Harz. Having read the stories and poems I believe this sums him up wonderfully.
One lucky commenter will also win a PDF copy of Songs You Can’t Dance To. All you need to do is leave a comment for Steven at the end of this post.
Wow, well that’s an opportunity and a half, Elizabeth Hopkinson todays author on the Thursday Throng is not only giving one lucky commenter a signed copy of her book, Silver Hands, she is also going to send them an exclusive silver wristband commissioned specially to help launch the book. How could you fail to be intrigued with a title like ‘How Not To Murder Your Grumpy’ – almost impossible isn’t it? This weeks Thursday Throng author interview guest is Carol Wyer, the author of the aforementioned book and a further three including the wonderfully titled ‘Surfing in Stiletto’s‘. As you might imagine from just these two books, Carol has a quirky sense of humour that does justice to the topics she approaches. One lucky person is also going to win a free signed copy of How Not To Murder Your Grumpy too – just leave a comment at the end of the interview to be in with a chance to learn more.
For those of you who don’t know, CL Raven are in fact writing twins with a passion for horror and ghost-hunting. When they aren’t writing they can be found putting together their YouTube show, Calamityville Horror and caring for an army of animal companions. They would love to share one of their three books in a giveaway, the choice is up to the winner who can choose from Soul Asylum, Disenchanted and Gunning Down Romance as an e-book, or signed, print copies of Soul Asylum and Disenchanted. They’re also doing a book reading and signing on Saturday 13th April in Cardiff Central Library, so if you happen to be local why not head on down and give them some support. As you’ll see from the interview they’ve certainly had some interesting experiences …..!
Tis Thursday, tis 9.30am (ish) and it’s time once again for the Thursday Throng. This week I have not one author to chat with but four. The ForePlayers collaborated on a book by writing 600 words each in turn until it was completed. The only rule they had was that the previous 600 words couldn’t be deleted. All four are from different parts of the world and in some cases have never even met each other. The book is called Beating about the Bush and yes, you can read into that what you like ;-). They are also giving away a SIGNED COPY of the book to one lucky commenter, so get those comments coming and be in with a chance to read the ‘next big thing’.
The authors in question are Luscious Lorraine, Sultry Shelley, Tantalising Theo and Juicy
We have not one, but two Thursday Throng interviews today. I’d like to introduce Andy Lopata, one of the UK’s leading experts on business networking who is also giving away a SIGNED COPY of his book, Recommended: How to Sell Through Networking and Referrals to one lucky commenter.
